Vermont Tech Receives Delta Dental Gift
Delta Dental Plan of Vermont has awarded Vermont Technical College a $63,000 grant to expand the college’s Dental Hygiene program.
The Dental Hygiene program operates out of Vermont Tech’s Williston Campus, where students get hands-on practice on both real and model patients. The college wants to extend this program to accommodate more students from all over the State, and this grant is the first step. The college now has the means to purchase a large van and new dental hygiene equipment which can be used to fashion a traveling dental hygienist’s office. The van will allow students to conduct screenings and assessments in schools and nursing homes around Vermont. The van will be nicknamed The Molar Express.
“Delta Dental Plan of Vermont is pleased to support the Vermont Technical College’s Dental Hygiene program’s expansion as they strive to serve patients throughout the State. We are proud to invest in the dental workforce and our hope is that these future dental hygienists choose to practice in Vermont after graduation,” said Kathleen B. Walker, Treasurer of the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation.
“Vermont Tech is very excited about this generous gift from Delta Dental,” commented Vermont Tech’s President Patricia Moulton. “This will allow us to expand our program to more areas of the state as well as deliver much-needed dental services around the state. It is a win-win for the college and dental hygiene in Vermont.”
